7 care homes to shut in Northern Ireland because they lose money

A big shock to the care industry in the UK with the announcement that one of the biggest providers will be shutting 7 home in Northern Ireland by early 2016. The care homes involved are Victoria Park and Stormont in Belfast; Antrim; Garvagh; Donaghcloney near Banbridge; Oakridge in Ballynahinch; and Hamilton Court in Armagh. Four Seasons Health Care says it can no longer subsidies the seven ‘loss making’ care homes. These are the challenges faced by the industry when you have large commercial groups involved in care that are answerable to their private equity investors!
