‘Guidance for CQC staff: Inspecting the quality of care for residents living in care homes’

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published Diabetes guidance for care home inspectors.

Titled ‘Guidance for CQC staff: Inspecting the quality of care for residents with diabetes mellitus living in care homes’, the new publication explains why individuals living with diabetes in care can be particularly vulnerable and dependent. The new guidelines provide a series of indicators to help care home inspectors assess whether services are meeting the needs of people with diabetes living in the home.

The guidance has been developed in collaboration with Professor Alan Sinclair, from Diabetes Frail, and the JBDS (Joint British Diabetes Societies) Task Group.
